The Farmers Working On Their Crops
If you were to think back to how long man has been farming, then you would realize that it has been thousands and thousands of years. Farming was initially a way to ensure that the family would have enough to eat during the winter months when game would be scarce.
With new developments in agricultural tools the farmers branched out and produced more for their families and still had enough to sell in the local market. Today’s factory farming operations produce massive quantities that go directly to feeding the masses.
The farmers that work today on their crops have it much easier than their ancestors. New developments in the realm of food and agriculture have led to better harvesting techniques and better, more health conscious pesticides.
Now farmers can produce enough to guarantee that their families have enough year round while still providing everyone else with the opportunity to have fresh produce and meat.
In the United States the USDA is the major force for the farmers. It is the governing body that ensures that quality crops are being grown and that everything is regulated. The USDA is also responsible for helping farmers when they have a crop failure by ensuring government aid.
Farming has come quite a long way from our prehistoric ancestors. The farmers today have some sense of security. Things can still go bad but not on the scale where starvation is imminent. Food and agriculture will always be a major factor in the lives of everyone but at least now it is a bit easier for farmers.
