Teenagers Encouraged To Stop Animal Cruelty
One of the most alarming statistics, with regard to the effort to stop animal cruelty, is the fact that over twenty percent of abuses against animals is committed by teenagers. This is a staggering number and very disturbing.
According to many mental health experts, a direct link exists between sociopathic behaviour and that of animal abuse. In order to stop this trend, adults should get their teenagers involved in the fight for the prevention of cruelty to animals.
According to the Humane Society of the United States, many different options are available to help teens stop animal cruelty. For example, if abuse is seen, then teenagers should be encouraged to get help for the animal immediately.
They can also teach younger children how to help animals through the website of the The National Association for Humane and Environmental Education. The NAHEE has programs specifically aimed at getting teens involved in helping younger children to understand that the animals should be respected and treated well, as well as the repercussions for abusing animals.
Getting teens involved in their community in order to stop animal cruelty is so simple. By just visiting the local animal shelter or by going online to websites, such as the Humane Society, one can learn how to help the animals that are counting on us for protection.
Animals and people coexist in this world, and all humans, regardless of age, should be pro-active in promoting kindness, not cruelty.
