Ceiling Fan Controls With Lights
In the past, if you decided to install a ceiling fan to help save energy and money, you did not have many choices. Now you have more choices in accessories, such as lights, if none are included in the design.
Then again, not too long ago when you wanted to control your fan you simply pulled a chain or flipped a switch and that was it. Today, fan controls have come a long way from just flipping a switch or pulling a chain. You need to check out the many options that are available to you thanks to modern technology.
If a residential consumer purchases a ceiling fan, then virtually all of them come with one type or another of fan controls, which normally is a pull chain.
Ceiling fan light kits usually come with a separate pull chain as you will need two, one for the fan and one for the lights. A pull chain operates by using sequential switches, low, medium and high (1-2-3).
Wall controls are another option for operating your fan, which is wall mounted at a convenient location in the room. The fan can be turned on and off, and the speed can be adjusted from this location.
However, if you want fan controls and the ceiling fan lights to be operated independently from each other, then you can have two separate wires, one for the fan and one for the light, which will run to the wall control. Keep in mind that if you will be operating more than one fan you will need a control of at least 5 amps.
