Quiet And Intimate With Pond Fishing
There is just something about pond fishing that brings out the kid in a lot of people. These smaller fishing places are quieter and more intimate than the big fishing lakes, and many people prefer these locations to the larger, more commercial areas.
When you’re dealing with a pond, whether it’s man-made or natural, everything feels different, and fishing is not such a major operation. Yet at the same time, fishing in a pond requires more finesse in many ways.
Different kinds of fish are approached in different ways in a smaller pond, and this is one of the things that make this kind of fishing so interesting. For example, bass tend to feed along the edges, in the overgrowth of vegetation that many people avoid.
Proper pond fishing here would suggest that rather than the person casting into the more open center, they should wade out themselves and cast parallel to the vegetation. Catfish, on the other hand, might need the fisherman to go out in a boat and drag the line along the bottom of the pond.
While some types of fish might be harder to catch in these smaller ponds (for example, catfish, which don’t reproduce well here), in many ways it doesn’t have to matter. These smaller ponds can supply a good catch for dinner, but the pond fishing experience here doesn’t need to be as intense as in larger locations.
These places can combine the pleasure of fishing with a different kind of pleasure: reliving good times from the past, and remembering what it was like to go fishing as a kid.
