Before Lawn Seeding
Seeding your own lawn may seem like a cake walk, but stop and think before you begin. Though seeds are less costly than sod, sod is easier to install.
However, there are many more varieties of seeds than there are varieties of sod available. Something else to consider if you decide to start your lawn from seed is maintenance. How much maintenance is required once the grass has become established?
When preparing your soil, you may also add fertilizer about a week before you begin seeding. To fertilize, just follow the manufacturer’s instructions. After you have completed all the prep work, you are ready to seed!
Follow the seed manufacturer’s instructions, as they will have the information you need on how much seed to use on a certain sized area.
The final step in the process is watching and waiting. After seven to fourteen days, seedlings should start to appear. Water your grass with a fine mist, as you don’t want the seeds to dry out, nor do you want them to become saturated.
Though as you can see, seeding your lawn does require a good amount of work but is well worth the effort.
