Bed bugs have been found in increasing numbers across America, and so more effective bed bug control tactics need to be taken. Moving quickly is important to avoid a rapid spread, as well as the prevention of financial and health problems associated with this kind of insect infestation.

Itchy bites, scars, insomnia and high levels of stress are all negative results of unwanted bed bugs. As bad as finding bed bugs in your home or business may be, there are steps that can be taken to deal with the situation, with and without involving pest control companies.

Isolation is another method of bed bug control that does not require a lot of money to be spent on different pest control supplies. Instead, the bed is cut off from the rest of the furniture in the room and steps are taken to prevent the bed bugs from climbing up the bed legs.

This works by surrounding the bed legs with material that the insects do not like or have difficulty climbing up on. The bed can be raised and placed into metal cans that are full of water, creating a miniature moat that the bugs cannot cross without drowning, even if they are somehow able to scale the metal surface.

Glass is another option because bed bugs struggle to move on that surface. As long as the bed is not near any other furniture that bed bugs could use as a jumping point, then the isolation tactic should work.

Bed bug control is something that needs to be done as soon as an infestation is discovered. The method of control is up to you, but likely factors will be the cost, the location and the severity of the infestation.

If the problem is not dealt with quickly and effectively, then the situation can worsen and the bugs can be spread to another location. All this will take its toil on the inhabitants so it’s best to deal with the situation right away, perhaps even with professional pest control services.
