Commercial Applications Of Band Saws
Many different types of commercial enterprises use band saws. These pieces of equipment are used for cutting stone, meat, metal and wood on an industrial level. A band saw is able to cut materials into curved shapes and can make other irregular cuts too, as well as regular straight cuts.
The teeth of this cutting saw are located on one side of the band, which is made of a flexible metal and sits on two rotating wheels. As useful as this type of saw can be, it can also be extremely dangerous if not used by those who have complete knowledge of the device.
Band saws are both expensive items to purchase and bulky machines to lift and move. This is why these saws are found mainly in machine shops and not in the workshops of do-it-yourself men and women.
Machine shop owners and workers are trained in how to use these types of power saws, so that fewer injuries will occur during their use. These saws may be powered by electricity, or by steam, water or wind power. At one time in history, these cutting saws were actually powered by animal power.
The biggest consideration that needs to be taken when using band saws is safety. The saws blades can be exceedingly dangerous, if the operator has not been trained correctly.
These saws are typically found in machine shops, where the individuals have the knowledge about how to properly use them. However, they are also used in warehouses where large portions of meat need to be cut.
