Soy beans are grown all over the world and it is included in many food products. All you need to do is look at the ingredients on many of the food product you buy, and you will see soy is an added ingredient.
Soy beans are like other beans, as they are a member of the family of legumes. They are rich in protein, carbohydrates and oil. They are grown in many parts of the world as they are easy to grow and are considered a staple in many cultures.
Soy beans can be processed soy flour, soy concentrate and soy isolate. These can then be fermented into soy sauce, included in tofu, ground into flour or pressed to create soy oil. During the second world war, soy was the main source for dietary protein.
You may know about soy milk as a substitute for dairy milk, but it is also included as a meat substitute for vegetarians to get their dose of textured protein.
